The obverse features a right facing bust of President Taft, who attended the groundbreaking ceremonies and turned the first shovel of dirt. The designer’s signature, M.P. Nielsen, appears to the left, behind Taft’s neck. The reverse depicts a standing laborer with a shovel. Building designs and themes appear in low relief in the distance.
