Albany NY Burgesses Corps HK-593 and HK-593A

The Albany Burgesses Corps (ABC) was an independent volunteer member military organization that existed in the latter half of the 19th century (originally organized in 1833). Many important merchants and professionals, several of whom held political office, belonged to the ABC. The organization was similar to modern service organizations of the modern era, raising money for various causes all the while providing a social organization with underlying political connections for merchants. HK-593 (and the silver-plated HK-593A) were issued in celebration of the ABC's 50th anniversary and was produced by Tiffany & Co, which was becoming a major jeweler in New York City around that time. This SCD isn't purely a political or club medal, but it has a military flavor in line with other SCDs celebrating important American military history figures.
