Per Bill's and Jeff's research, 20-30 of J-13 are thought to exist. I would think a price range of $300-900 would be reasonable, but with SCD prices being crazy as of late, I guess we'll see what happens.

Quote from Howard Hornreich on February 23, 2014, 5:07 pmDo you know what the 1940 Silver Charbneau was graded that sold for $1400 in the Heritage auction? Did $1400 include the juice?
The 1940 Dated silver Charbneau sold for $1410 (which included the BP) in June,2013, Long Beach, CA, Lot# 9659. It is now for sale on ebay for $1877 and has been listed for many weeks. I contacted the seller who told me he paid $1500 and would only entertain offers between the $1500 and his asking $1877. I thought that was too rich and went on my way. The reverse date has a little something going on below the "0" in 1940, I was wondering if this is a variety or a different die, etc.

Quote from bill on February 23, 2014, 8:44 pmAll the Charbneau pieces dated 1940 have a lot of tooling marks around the date. I suspect 1939 dies were retooled to 1940 and used to strike the 1940 issues.

Not sure what that is, but it doesn't appear to be on the die. It appears to be attached to the surface.
