The Fraternal Order of Eagles (www.foe.com) is a fraternal organization grouped into chapters (known as Aeries) with a well documented history, and the F.O.E. is heavily involved in charitable giving: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraternal_Order_of_Eagles This organization held a national meeting in San Francisco in August of 1911. This medal is classified as J-911 by Tom Jankovsky. The reverse of the pinbar is stamped with J.O. within a back-to-back pair of acorns trademark. I'm not sure what manufacturer that signifies, or whether that also means that the company that made the pinbar also made the slug. As an aside, on the medals, L.T.J.E. stands for Liberty, Truth, Justice, and Equality.
