TROLLEYETTE and SPINX so calleds

That is correct, the obverse is the same.

Stories like these were reconfirmed by one of the Utah coin dealers at the 2013 National Token Show in Reno. There seems to be a lot of variably in price... perhaps attributed to people owning these and not necessarily knowing that they are worth keeping and selling at a premium. One dealer told me he bought his after seeing it stuck on a board with tape... and for a very reasonable price (still in the hundreds however...)

A copy is in your email box. Yes, I wrote the article and had the assistance of his granddaughter. There is a third medal in the set that I was unaware of at the time, a medal for a proposed speed walk across the country to LA. He never made that walk as his wife died and he had two small daughters to raise. Jeff and I have not talked about including them, but many so-called collectors include them in their collections. There was one in the Bill Weber collection for example. I'm happy to put it on my list for inclusion.

Bill H Thank you thank you. About 8 yrs ago I put these two pieces aside as pieces that had to have a story and that I needed to research and last week decided to do it. Found a couple of your comments and finally wiseing up some. Thought crossed my mind that here again the old master may have already done this. Wisely checked this time before drawing possibly inaccurate conclusions and you have done it, laid out everything I was wondering about. Thank you for the copy of your article. Only sad thing is I thought I had a complete set and now found out there is a piece I don't have and must now watch for. Bob If you are able to find a picture of this third piece please post it. I really would like to see it. I haven't been able to find it.

Bill H. I just figured out that you wrote the article about John Albert Krohn. Do you have a copy? I see two stories going around. First that there were two long walks 1903 and 1908. Second that he changed his name and that there was only one walk. Which is true? Are you the individual that interviewed/talked with his granddaughter? Do you have a copy of "The Walk of Colonial Jack"? AND are these two tokens going to be included in the new book? I find them very interesting as items of national significance/interest/importance Bill G.

While not as nice as the photos in your January 2008 article in the numismatist, here's one of the 2 medals related to this discussion. Bill, would you be willing to post a photo the the mentioned third medal ? By the way, your article seems freely available to download as a PDF from http://www.trotterlink.com when you google "trolleyette sphynx". Your discussion on http://www.coinpeople.com is quite informative as well.

I don't own the third type and I don't have a picture in my records. It has the same obverse as the Colonial Jack piece and the reverse is much the same only it mentions the planned cross country walk to Los Angeles. I have examined one in hand and a picture was published in the letters section of the Numismatist the month after my article was published.
