Unlisted Medals

This is an HK 24 in gilt. Not listed in the book or on the slab but clearly a gilt piece. Has anyone seen another? I am also curious as to whether people feel the Texas Encampment medal meets the so called dollar criteria. It is not a GAR piece. Should an encampment be considered a celebration of sorts?

Your HK24 in gilt is an neat piece, but the encampment piece to me is more interseting. First of all, most encampment medals were made of white metal, so to me yours is more desirable. Secondly, I have never seen yours before, but then there are a lot of encampment medals I have never seen. It would not be a so called dollar if you follow HKs guidelines to the letter. Encampment medals were not included in HK. To me the piece would be included in the broad catagory of fraternal pieces, the vast majority of which commemorate events that were more "private" in nature than "public". But of course in a broader sense your piece IS a so called dollar, and in my mind a neat one at that. Sorry that my responce here is almost a year old.

Thanks for the additional info. I don't know much about pieces like this but I think they fit nicely with SCD's even if they don't fit the criteria strictly.
