Victor Colorado So Called Dollar

I believe the reverse is a standard Schwaab Stamp and Seal reverse. That means it is likely struck without the hole and it might be found with rabbit ears as well.

Rulau missed it in his Gay Nineties Book so cant use him as a source. The edge of the hole on theflagr reverse would indicate that a standard drill and drill bit were used after being struck-definitely not punched with the spread around the hole. Also a prior to striking hole I think would have been placed more to the right of the H on the obverse.

Do these exist in an unholed version? Or were they all punched before issue?

Here is a well designed patriotic So Called Dollar from Victor, Colorado. There are very few early Colorado tokens. I know of only two from Victor and they are both Bar Tokens. I am guessing that the die sinker while unknown is the same as made my previously listed Watermelon Day in Rocky Ford Colorado. Both are the same size, 38mm, 1898, gilt brass tokens. Both are extremely well done by an experienced journeyman engraver. There is still no better festival than a July 4th Independence Day celebration no matter how remote one might be.
