TOP POP, the finest graded by NGC, and a DPL as well! This is also the “Plate Medal” for the soon to be released book “So-Called Dollars from U.S. Expositions”. Only 11 have been graded by NGC. The first in a series of eight medals with a large bust of Washington, engraved and issued by George Hampden Lovett to commemorate the Revolutionary Battles of 1776. At the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge on February 27, 1776, the Americans’ defeat of the British ended British authority in North Carolina and greatly boosted patriotic morale. In less than two months following the victory, North Carolina became the first colony to vote in favor of independence from Britain.
